The #1 Contender’s Knockout Battle Royal featuring Angelina Love, Brooke Tessmacher, Madison Rayne, Mickie James, ODB, Rosita, Sarita, Tara, Velvet Sky and Winter prevented Thursday’s Impact Wrestling from drawing the show’s lowest rating of the year as the match outdrew the entire show by a sizable margin.

Thursday’s show garnered a 1.06 cable rating off hours of 1.02 and 1.10, flat with last week’s year-low 1.06. The #1 Contender’s Knockout Battle Royal, which kicked off the second hour, surged the rating from a 1.04 to a 1.23—an 18.3 percent increase. The subsequent quarter hour featuring Eric Bischoff’s celebratory promo plummeted to a 1.00.

Only the final quarter hour drew near the Knockouts, a 1.11 for a heavily publicized angle involving New York Giants player Brandon Jacobs and Sting confronting World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode.

Knockouts #1 Contender’s Battle Royal
Okay, the participants are Tara, Brooke Tessmacher, Sarita, Rosita, ODB, Mickie James, Velvet Sky, Winter, and Angelina Love. Oh, and Gail Kim and Madison Rayne are sitting ringside to observe the match in their evening wear. Madison cuts a prematch promo saying what a gracious champion Gail Kim is because she’s giving everyone in the ring the chance to become the #1 contender for the Knockouts Title, then tells the timekeeper to ring the bell. He obliges and we’re off. Winter voluntarily hops over to choke Mickie from the apron and gets driven off the apron by ODB, then Brooke gets tossed right behind her. ODB picks Rosita up and press slams her onto Brooke and Winter to eliminate her as well. Mickie tries to headscissor ODB to the floor and several others try to dump the both of them, but they save themselves on the apron. Mickie goes up top but ODB shoves her off to the floor and then everyone else rushes ODB and sends her to the floor as well. Sarita dumps Tara to the apron and Angelina dropkicks her out to the floor where she appears to tweak her knee, and we’re down to Velvet, Angelina, and Sarita. Angelina and Sarita try to work together on Velvet but she fights them both off, taking Sarita out with a clothesline before Angelina blindsides her. Velvet still takes them both out with a double clothesline and tries to dump Angelina, but Sarita nails Velvet from behind and the two of them double team Velvet in the corner. Velvet comes back with more clotheslines and back elbows and she tries to dump Sarita but Angelina stops her and she tries to eliminate Velvet. Sarita comes over and goes after Angelina now, they argue briefly before Angelina lays Velvet out with the Botox Injection and Gail and Madison laugh it up at ringside. Angelina tries to dump Velvet but Sarita comes up and “accidentally” dumps her from behind. We’re down to Velvet and Sarita, and Sarita drills Velvet with a dropkick, but Sarita charges and Velvet pulls the top rope down and Sarita sails out to the floor. Velvet thinks she’s won, but suddenly Madison Rayne pops out of her chair and rushes the ring, dumps Velvet over the top rope, and apparently she is now the #1 contender to the Knockouts Title.

Winner: Madison Rayne

Mickie James vs Velvet Sky
They tie up and Velvet goes to a wristlock, Mickie cartwheels out and sweeps the legs Johnny for 2. Velvet goes to a side headlock, Mickie shoots her into the ropes, and Velvet takes her down with a shoulder block. Mickie goes for a monkey flip but Velvet blocks and rolls her up for 2. Mickie bridges out and gets a rollup of her own for another 2. Velvet goes for a handshake and Mickie takes it, then pulls Velvet into a series of shoulder blocks and whips her into the corner. Mickie charges into Velvet’s boot and then Velvet gets a flying headscissors, but Mickie dropkicks Velvet in the face for 2. Mickie with kicks and shoulder blocks in the corner, then hits a snapmare into a seated abdominal stretch. Mickie rolls it backward into a guillotine for 2, but Velvet gets a chinbreaker and then a series of running clotheslines. Velvet is hurt and can’t follow up, but still manages to hit a inverted bulldog for 2. Velvet with a couple facebreakers, but Mickie takes her out with a clothesline, she goes for the leaping DDT, Velvet escapes and goes for a sunset flip, Mickie tries to squirm out into a seated cradle, but Velvet catches her in a small package for 3.

Winner: Velvet Sky
